Graz 1000 Delivers an incredible show
Ron & Maor won, but was Isli the big surprise?
The Graz 1000 lived up to every expectation and more. With 113 games teams over the weekend, a packed city-center venue at Freiheitsplatz, and an additional 100-category tournament running alongside it, Graz became the beating heart of European footvolley for an unforgettable weekend.
The level was extraordinary. Europe's best teams faced Brazilian professionals in match after match, showcasing just how far the sport has come. The event once again highlighted what the League of Champions is all about: bringing together the very best players in Europe while creating opportunities for the next generation of talents to rise.
One of the standout stories came from Isli, who further cemented himself as one of Europe's elite players. Together with his partner Anderson Aguia, he defeated SS Lazio Footvolley stars Ludovico Alonzi and Federico Iacopucci twice during the tournament. Although Team Isli ultimately finished in 4th place, their performances left no doubt that they belong among the strongest duplas in Europe.
Another fan-favorite storyline was the return of Alain Faccini, one of the true icons of European footvolley. Partnering with Tadeo, who flew in directly from Brazil, Faccini showed flashes of the level that made him one of the continent's most respected players.
Meanwhile, every team that did not qualify for the main draw had the chance to compete in the parallel 100 tournament, creating another stage for emerging players. Here, FTV Bergen produced one of the surprises of the weekend, storming all the way to the final. Their rapid development is a testament to the growth of Norwegian footvolley.
In the end, however, the title went to Footvolley Zurich, with Caio and Felix claiming their first-ever League of Champions victory and their first 100 ranking points. A milestone achievement for the Swiss duo.
In the main 1000 tournament, the title was secured by Ron and Maor, who defeated Juan Silva and Rodrigo Otero in the final. Given their pedigree and recent form, it was a result few would consider surprising.
If Graz proved anything, it is that European footvolley has never been deeper. New talents are rising, established stars continue to evolve, and every tournament seems to produce a new storyline.
